Brandon Collaborates with Hurley and H.O.P.E

We are so happy to finally announce a project that has been in the works for quite some time.  Brandon has partnered with super brand Hurley on an environmental issue close to his heart, the North Pacific Gyre AKA the 'pacific garbage patch' which is a collection of garbage -- plastic bottles and other trash that stems primarily from human consumption -- which is currently settled in the North Pacific Ocean between California and Hawaii. It is bigger and more serious than  you think -- please click here to read more about it.

Since it's a problem that is essentially our fault, it's also hopeful that it is within our power to fix it through education and awareness. This observation is the driving force of the project which was specifically chosen by Brandon, a lifelong surfer and environmental advocate. He has devoted much time and effort to the cause and has created a series of collaborative t-shirt designs with proceeds designated to raising awareness for an ultimate solution.

Please read more about the collaboration on Yahoo News

Brandon will create a mural at the  )(  Gallery and there will be an April 2 launch party at the gallery...he is in great company as noted artists such as Nathan Ota, Bigfoot, Dalek, and others have had shows there.

Keep your eyes out  for press, print advertising and an MTVu commercial spot that will highlight the project. It is always a great feeling when art can be used to benefit a great cause so we are really really looking forward to it!

Refurbished and ready to roll!

We are so happy to have our new site up and running! Just as we have grown and changed, our site needed to as well. The blog is a new addition that we are quite excited about (as is Carrie our web designer who doesn't have to deal with our pesky constant news updates). All of our previous news and event info from the old site can be viewed here.

Art Duet has many upcoming events and announcements, but before we go there, let's fill you in on the most recent happenings...

The ever so cool and cutting-edge Arkitip published a Janette Beckman newspaper! Janette had her show at the Arkitip/Incase gallery back in August and it was a great success, click here here to read about it.

The paper is a limited edition of 1,000 and features 24 pages of her iconic imagery and is (very, very) reasonably priced. A great gift and conversation piece, or just a generally cool item to have! Contact us for more information.

Not surprisingly, two of Brandon's paintings have recently found permanent homes!  Interestingly,  'Algebra' was a small, personal work he painted of a former and beloved pet, and it was featured in his book 'From The Murks of The Sultry Abyss'.

The other, entitled 'Ectoplasm' was a very large  - 5 ft x 5 ft - newer work. It inspired the title name for his first solo show in 2008. Both held a different and special place, as a painting often does.

We will post pictures of the pieces once they are comfortably settled in their new dwellings...

Mr. Mike DeNicola was interviewed by Mexico City-based arts & culture magazine, Chakota. Written in Spanish (obviously), the interview talks about his documentary 'The Westsiders', which he art directed, and discusses his creative influences and of course, surfing. You can check out the article here: Chakota. And if your Spanish is rusty there's always Google translator to fall back on. As we like to say, when in doubt - give it a Google. Anyway, we are glad that Mike is getting recognition that is well deserved. Much more to come!

Below are a few shots from our holiday party in December...it was soooo nice to  reconnect with some old friends. Art on display included Brandon, Janette & Mike (our people, of course), Alan Aldridge , Joseph Arthur , and rugs (amazing!) by Mark Mothersbaugh.

Thanks to Lauren Virdone for the photos!
